:NBBN has discovered two vulnerabilities in webSPELL, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting and cross-site request forgery attacks.1) Input passed to the "sort" parameter in index.php (when "site" is set to "whoisonline") is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user’s browser session in context of an affected site.2) A vulnerability is caused due to the application allowing users to perform certain actions via HTTP requests without performing any validity checks to verify the request. This can be exploited to give a user superadmin status.Successful exploitation of this vulnerability requires knowledge of the user ID for the user that will become a superadmin. The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 4.01.02 with security fixes 2007-01-21 and 2007-04-06 applied. Other versions may also be affected.Solution:Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised. Do not browse untrusted websites while logged on to webSPELL.Provided and/or discovered by:NBBN
